It all started with my bad habit of managing action items using e-mail. Oh, the system worked well when people responded to my e-mail requests. But, it failed terribly when people gave no response at all!
So, I knew I needed to manage action items better.
I have worked with trouble ticketing systems, bug tracking systems, and the like. However, they are much too cumbersome for personal use. I wanted something that was quick and light, but contained options common to the those systems. And I didn't want to be exclusive to a limited set of users; I wanted it to be as inclusive as e-mail.
So, I created Teamwork Central. With it, I can easily manage my own action items. I can do this in a hierarchical manner - I can create subitems under any action item; I can create sub-sub-items under any sub-items; and so on. Also, I can request an action from another individual. I can specify that individual simply by e-mail (there's that old easy habit!) if they are not part of my system. Or, I can specify them by name if they are part of my system. When that person gets the generated e-mail request, it looks like a web page: it gives them a number of options for the action item by simply clicking on a link in the e-mail. Each link brings that user from the e-mail, back to the website where the database is. The database retains the state of all the action items.
I delegate action items and others delegate action items to me. I need reports that show me the status or my delegated actions. Plus, if my action request has been ignored, I need a reminder so I can catch it in time.
I've attempted to capture all my needs into a website. This is what it is so far.
I'm still in the experimental stage. If you like how something works, let me know (see feedback link at bottom of page). If you don't like how something works, let me know and tell me what you'd expect would be better. If you have a suggestion for adding to the site, please let me know. I appreciate the feedback!
I hope you find this site useful, making you more productive.
